Description

In 1952, several of the Department of Supernatural Affairs' warehouses went through the intense process of reassessing their inventories. Many pieces were recorded and accounted for, others weren't. This piece is an example of something that had very little information to it. It had no paper trail, no kind of instructions, and its storage crate was clear of any kind of markings specifying its make, model, or origin. Weapons specialists looked over the weapon, confirming that it was a gatling-style action with six barrels that rotated. A power cord ran from the back of the weapon to a power source. When attached to power, the weapon fired energy beams from the gatling barrels at astounding speed with devastating effect. During and after firing, the weapon became so hot that the tester suffered severe burns on his hands and arms, as well as his facial and lower torso area. This was due to the weapon using some kind of reactor to generate high amounts of energy that discharged from the barrels, but also from two exhaust ports on the right side of the weapon. Special heat-resistant gloves and protective gear were developed soon after the weapon's discovery so it could be fired without harming the user.

Due to the weapon having no designation, makers proofs, or serial number, it was simply dubbed "The Spirit of '76" due to the large number 76 stenciled on the side for unknown reasons.

Yes, this was a Nerf gun, and yes, the barrels do spin when the power cord is attached to the old model train transformer it came with. Extremely fun piece to make, even more fun doing the green-on-black weathered paint job.
